Submission Guidelines for Panoply Journal

Welcome to the submission portal of Panoply Journal. We are committed to publishing high-quality research in the field of International Relations and Global Security. To ensure a smooth submission process, please review the following guidelines carefully. These criteria align with international publishing standards and help maintain academic excellence.

Types of Articles We Accept

All submissions must be classified under one of the following categories:

Emerging Scholars Series High-quality student papers (BA/MA level) addressing topics in International Relations, Human Rights, or Global Ethics. These papers emphasize strong argumentation, critical reflection, and academic potential rather than full methodological sophistication. Abstract (150 words max) – Introduction (clear research question or ethical dilemma) Structured Argument (e.g., Toulmin model or equivalent) Analysis & Discussion Conclusion References (APA 7 format)

Before You Submit: Checklist for Authors

  • Original Research:

    • Your research must be original and not published elsewhere.
    • The research topic must pertain to International Relations or Global Security.
    • We do not accept AI-generated papers.
  • Length & Structure:

    • The paper should be between 2,500 to 6,000 words.
    • Include a title and an abstract (max 150 words).
  • Language & Formatting:

    • Papers must be in English and free of spelling and grammar errors.
    • Use APA 7 formatting. Download the official template here:

  • Citations & Ethics:

    • Credit all authors and contributors.
    • Ensure proper referencing of all sources.
    • Disclose any conflicts of interest.
  • Contact & Communication:

    • Provide a valid email for communication.
    • Check for submission system messages instead of emailing us directly.

What Happens After You Submit?

  • Double-Blind Peer Review:

    • Submissions are reviewed by expert reviewers in International Relations & Global Security.
    • The review timeline is 2-4 months.
  • Author Response Process:

    • Authors have two weeks to respond to reviewer feedback and submit a revised version.
    • If no response is received, minor grammatical edits will be assumed accepted, and the manuscript will proceed to production.
    • Authors must include a response letter outlining changes made based on reviewer feedback.
  • Plagiarism Check:

    • All submissions undergo plagiarism and AI screening before acceptance.

Copyright & Open Access Policy

  • Authors retain their rights and may share their work on platforms like Google Scholar & ResearchGate.
  • Submission to Panoply Journal grants CIRIS the right to publish the article, which cannot be withdrawn after 14 days.
  • No publication fees – Panoply Journal remains free and open-access.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • We require you to use this file and structure to submit your paper!
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (if so, please provide an explanation in the Comments section of your submission).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or RTF document file format.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • The text is single-spaced, uses a 12-point font, employs italics rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points.
  • All submissions are subject to review by the Editorial Team before they are being sent to the reviewers. All manuscripts must meet Author guidelines.

• Authors must disclose the use of any artificial intelligence (AI) tools or services employed during the preparation of the manuscript. This includes the use of AI for translation, language editing, paraphrasing, summarization, content generation, data analysis, image generation, or reference management. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and authorship of the submitted work.

• Panoply Journal does not accept manuscripts that have been substantially generated by artificial intelligence. The use of AI tools for substantive drafting, analysis, interpretation, or generation of scholarly arguments must be declared and may result in the manuscript being deemed ineligible for publication. Failure to disclose relevant AI use may result in rejection, withdrawal of acceptance, or retraction after publication.

Emerging Scholars Series

The Emerging Scholars Series publishes high-quality student work in the fields of international relations, human rights, and global ethics. Submissions are selected based on analytical rigor, originality, and relevance.

Contributions in this section undergo either full double-blind peer review or a structured editorial review process, depending on their scope and maturity. The review type is clearly indicated on each published article.
