Colonialism

Colonialism refers to the historical process by which one country establishes and maintains political and economic control over another country, usually through military conquest and the establishment of settlements. Colonialism often involves the exploitation of the colonized country's resources and labor, the imposition of the colonizer's culture and language, and the suppression of the local population's political and economic freedoms. The effects of colonialism can be long-lasting and can shape the political, social, and economic structures of the colonized country for generations.
