Shuttle Diplomacy
A form of diplomacy where a mutually acceptable third party mediator travels between opposing parties who are either unable or unwilling to meet. This form of diplomacy is useful when it is either too dangerous, or too domestically unpopular for opposing leaders to meet. The term “shuttle diplomacy” comes from U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger’s mediation tactics following the ceasefire of the 1973 Yom-Kippur War.
